Field visit to Muthurajawela 10MW waste to energy project

              IEEE Power and Energy Society Sri Lanka Chapter organized a field visit to 10MW Waste-to-Energy project on 10/11/2019 for the membership. Western Power Company, a subsidiary of Aitken Spence has scheduled the commission of the this 10 MW power plant by 2020, in Kerawalapitiya, Muthurajawela, that will consume all of Colombo Municipality’s solid garbage. Estimated inceneration capacity of the plant is 700 Mt per day where it has 5 - 7 days garbage storage capacity. The IEEE PES members were able to observe and understand the insights of the on-going project and the importance of waste management.

About 15 number of participants including indutrial, academic and undegraduate members participated to this field visit.
